In case of welding problems, such as temperature, corrosion and/or abrasion /shock, high quality steel is not always adequate protection. That is why we now normally use
- Small filled pipes
- Filler wire
- Welding powder made of hard nickel, FeCr or tungsten carbide
- GMA
- Open Arc
- Electrodes
- Oxacetylene
At EIPA Eisen Palmen we have decided to offer even better protection using the PTA process for resurface welded parts for wear protection.

Opposite a schematic drawing of PTA welding.
Process Description
- Non-fusing electrodes as primary heat source
- Two arcs with independent power sources
- First arc between electrode and plasma nozzle, acting as the basis for ignition of the main arc, which burns between the workpiece and electrode.
- For resurface welding, powder is fed from the store tank using gas for internal or external application.

What are the benefits if you use PTA for your components?
- Complex protection of surfaces
- Low mixing with basic material
- Meaning increased wear protection to the basic material
- Thin wear layers of 2-3mm single-layer,
- Saving weight on the component
- High investment when coating with high quality materials
- However this will then mean a long service life
